Frequently Asked Questions
A physical therapist can evaluate your condition and identify the source of your discomfort or dysfunction. Once evaluated, the therapist will develop a treatment program specific to your needs and goals that may consist of a combination of hands on manual therapy, supervised exercises, strengthening, and flexibility training. You will also receive a video-instructed home exercise program in addition to education on proper body mechanics and posture to prevent re-injury and/or further dysfunction.

New York is a “direct access” state which means that most patients are not required to get a prescription before beginning physical therapy. A prescription is required after 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. However, some insurance companies do require a prescription or referral. Please call our office to discuss whether your insurance plan requires a prescription and/or a referral.
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete paperwork and change clothing, if needed. We request that you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and allows our therapists to access the area to be treated. We recommend that you wear sneakers. Please bring your prescription, insurance card, photo ID, and any diagnostic test results (X-ray, MRI).
First appointments typically last 45-60 minutes. During this time, your physical therapist will evaluate and identify the cause of your pain or dysfunction, as well as initiate a treatment plan to eliminate your symptoms. Your treatment will begin on day one. We want to make you feel better, beginning on your first day.
Our facility is equipped with showers and lockers for your convenience.
Our staff works closely together as a team. If the physical therapist that you had your initial appointment with does not have availability that works for you, feel free to schedule with another therapist. The most important thing is that you are coming in for treatment and during a time that is convenient for you. If you are scheduled with another therapist, rest assured that there is communication regarding your care and treatment plan.
In order to be fair to all of our patients and staff, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please call in advance of your appointment if you need to reschedule or cancel. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cancellations or schedule changes via email or through our website at this time.
We currently accept cash or check only. If you would like to use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Spending Account (FSA), we can provide you with a statement to be submitted for full reimbursement.
Copays and office fees are due at the time of service. When you check in for your appointment, our office staff will collect your cash or check payment and provide you with a receipt. Some insurance plans require that the patient pay a percentage of the reimbursement (coinsurance), which is determined once the insurance company processes the claim. For these plans, we will send you a bill after the claims have been processed. Otherwise, all payment is due upfront.
Depending on availability, same day appointments can sometimes be scheduled. However, in order to accommodate your individual scheduling needs and your therapist of choice, we ask that you try to keep your appointments scheduled out at least two weeks in advance. For new initial evaluations, we strive to offer an evaluation appointment within 24 hours because we know how important it is for you to get started immediately on your road to recovery.
